Many of our customers inquire about the differences between 3-wheel and 4-wheel mobility scooters.
Many of our customers inquire about the differences between 3-wheel and 4-wheel mobility scooters. 3-wheel models offer better maneuverability for tight indoor spaces and more foot room, due to the lack of wheel-wells. If you are 6 feet tall or above, we recommend considering a 3-wheel for a more spacious and comfortable ride. 4-wheel models offer increased stability, especially if you plan on using your scooter outdoors. If you have trouble with balance or stability, we recommend sticking with a 4-wheel for safety assurance weight capacity.
Another very important factor when buying a scooter is your weight and the weight capacity of your model of choice. You want to leave at least 25 pounds of difference between your weight and the capacity. For example, if you weigh 275 pounds, you need a scooter that holds at least 300 pounds. The more cushion you have, the better, especially to account for additional weight from personal effects, bags, etc. Abiding by the weight capacity is vital to maximize your scooter’s lifespan and avoid frequent repairs.
